Amigurumi bunnies

The original amigurumi bunnies

Earlier this year I started playing with amigurumi patterns, and after I’d tried a few and figured out some of the more effective techniques, I tried out the free pattern from Make Craft for the Crochet Spring Bunny. I made two bunnies in the favourite colours of a friend’s twin 3 year-old girls and the bunnies have seen so much play that the red one disappeared on an adventure somewhere and there was need for a replacement.

Over the course of a few nights I made up a new red bunny – thankfully I had taken photos of the originals so I could try and match the features. However, I thought that giving one twin a gift without giving something to the other might result in some troubles. I decided to make up some bunny accessories so that the girls can dress up their old and new bunnies in some new clothes.

I crocheted some quick cotton scarves (a long starting chain, work a row of double-crochet (US)/treble (UK) and then weave in the ends) and sewed a couple of elasticated skirts that will hopefully be easy enough for the little hands to manipulate.
