Someone shared their delightful news with me last week so I found the free Basic Baby Cardigan pattern by Alana Dakos and cast on my first baby cardigan.
I decided to play it safe by choosing Patons Big Baby 8ply, an acrylic/nylon yarn, just in case the baby has any allergies and so that it’s easy to machine wash.
I chose a classic white colour but in hindsight I wish I’d been more adventurous. I made up for the plainness by choosing different coloured buttons, but I’ll keep an eye out for non-pastel baby-suitable yarns to have a small stand-by stash for the future.
It was a quick, fun knit and good practice for cardigan techniques that will come in handy for my next big project.
My Ravelry project page has more specs and details about how I tackled this cardigan.
